Calen ("the App") is a macOS menu bar application that integrates with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Apple Reminders to help you manage your schedule. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Calen accesses the following data solely on your device:
~/Library/Application Support/Planit/. Integrity-signed with HMAC.We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Calen never operates a server that receives your data. The App communicates directly with Google Calendar API for sync, and with your locally installed Claude Code or Codex CLI for AI features.
Calen's use of Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only request the minimum scopes necessary:
calendar.events — read and create calendar events.calendar.calendarlist.readonly — list your calendars.userinfo.email — identify your account.Calendar data is fetched on demand and not stored persistently beyond the current session cache. OAuth tokens are stored in your macOS Keychain and can be removed at any time by logging out of the App or deleting Calen from your Mac. To remove Keychain entries manually, open Keychain Access and search for "com.oy.planit".
OAuth credentials are stored in the macOS Keychain. All network communication uses HTTPS. The App is notarized by Apple, ensuring it has not been tampered with.
Calen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
